Longleaf Pine Research Station

During the 2021-2022 school year, MHS partnered with Kronospan and the National Forest Service to plant several thousand longleaf pine trees on the campus. This area will be used to teach students about the longleaf life cycle and the habitat that they provide for the red cockaded woodpecker. This area also provides an opportunity for students to learn about forestry and responsible use of natural resources.
