Greenhouse
Our partners for this outdoor classroom are the US Forest Service, Talladega Superspeedway, and Miller Landscaping Supplies. This outdoor classroom is one that you may see at many schools. This spring we are doing what most schools do with their greenhouses. We will plant seeds and monitor the plants all the way until we plant them in the community garden. The US Forest Service provided the funding to build the greenhouse. After the fall race, the Talladega Superspeedway donated hundreds of plants that were used around the track. Soil and rocks are provided by Miller Landscaping. Our greenhouse is undergoing a major change this year. Last school year, MHS received a grant from Walmart that allowed us to purchase an automated watering system. During the first semester, students will be working to install the system and plant ferns that will be sold in the spring. This program requires students to design a business plan and market their products.
