Chicken Coop

Thanks to David’s Chicken Coop out of Cedartown, Georgia who built our chicken coop for our hens. Munford Schools had won a More Kids in the Woods grant from the US Forest Service and a portion of the grant was used to purchase the chicken coop. The students learn that the eggs they eat for breakfast come from chickens like the ones they are looking at and not Wal-Mart. They also help collect crickets in the nearby field and feed them to the chickens too. The hens produce almost a dozen eggs a day and for $90/month a local church purchases our eggs to pass out to the elderly in the community. The money raised goes back to purchase the feed for the chickens. The chickens are cared for by the agriscience students and Mrs. Lipham’s class at Munford High School.
